Configuration Engineer

The role is responsible for providing ongoing support and enhancements to the existing tools that support the activities of DTS globally. In addition the incumbent will work to provide new tools and interfaces that support and give management visibility across the global infrastructure and ensure consistent and accurate configuration management and support the ITIL/MOF initiative.

Current tool set includes:
Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003
Microsoft Operations Manager 2005
Internal CMDB system
Internal compliance checking tool
VBScript

Specific Functions

Co-ordinate and prioritize requests for change within the configuration management tool set
Particular focus on the functionality of the SMS tool; to develop the use of SMS for OS deployments, application deployments, desired configuration management and systems reporting
Interaction with the MOM expertise in the team to facilitate frequent reporting on compliance and health of the infrastructure and applications
Develop home-grown compliance tools to integrate with SMS
Develop home-grown RIS/ADS OS deployment tools to integrate with SMS
Develop tools that will support the implementation of the ITIL/MOF methodology across the DTS Global infrastructure
Manage production changes, adhering to the Global Change Management process.
Keep pace with leading-edge technologies – most Microsoft development languages and future releases
