    Problems downloading 7-Zip

    Hi all,

    I'm trying to download and install 7-Zip for my Windows XP 32 bit PC, but where ever I go, when I run the .exe, I get 7z451.exe is not a valid application, and something similar if its a .msi.

    Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know where I can get it from?
    Can't see any reports of issues, but I can't figure out what the problem is.

    Just as a test you could get the one from PortableApps.com and see if 7Zip will run from that exe?

    Have you tried an alternative download location, as the one you tried could be corrupt?

    Have you cleared the browser's cache / history / TIF and tried downloading again ? Either do it manually from IE / Firefox or use summat like CCleaner which is functional and painless to use.

    Have you used a different browser and got the same results ?

    You could create a new user account and try reusing IE to download, see what the outcome is.

    Start with the obvious stuff first and work from there.

    Thanks for the responses - I'll give those methods ago....I've tried using IE and Firefox, and tried multiple locations, but not clearing out the cache, or tried from portableapps.com.

    Downloads working ok now. I ran CCleaner, and the download worked, but I didn't test the download this morning before running CCleaner, so I don't know if it was a problem with a few websites last night, or if the problem was on my PC!
