    SAM corrupt?

I've got a windows XP home system (OEM xp) that is refusing to boot in any mode. Windows starts to boot and then blue screens and it's so quick I can't see what the message is. Examining the hard drive on my other system shows that the SAM is currupt (CRC failure), is there any easy way to recover this or am I looking at a fresh install?

    Repair install ?

Put CD in, boot from CD, press Enter to setup Windows, select existing Windows and choose the repair option (don't go into the recovery console, that's not what you want)

Tried to do a repair and got an "internal error" and the repair stopped. Ended up doing a fresh install....grrrrrrrrrrrrr!
