Sound theme in Vista x64

I am running Vista x64 and the sound card (integrated) works fine on winamp, media player, etc but I cannot set up any sound clip in vista (control Panel/Sound). No sound at start up or shut down. When I go in the control panel and test the sounds, nothing plays... Any idea?

Any one ? Contemplating reinstalling Vista...

I would consider removing the sound card from the device manager and re-detecting it before you resort to reinstalling Vista

Thanks for the reply. The issue was that the sound card was doing everything it was supposed to do except the windows sounds. Ended up reinstalling Vista as an upgrade. Took a good 2.5 hours but it is now sorted.
