    Angry Vista security warnings

I've just installed Vista for the first time. The countless security warnings are driving me mad - you get two different ones when you try to delete a shortcut from the start menu! Any program that runs, asks not only the first time it runs, but every subsequent time as well.

Is there any way of turning them off or down or something please?

Remember, it is an effective security measure, stops things installing without your knowledge. But if it's just you & you're a savvy chap, (being a Hexusite, how could you be different), go ahead, your choice

I like to think I'm tech savvy, and UAC stays firmly switched on. Helps stop me being owned by a drive by installation from a banner or similar, and in all honesty I don't find it too much of a hardship. But then I never used to run as an administrator under XP either...

I have it on, but it is indeed anoying at times, but as I said, it is effective security for a change. Nice when the kids use this rig on occasion. But it's down to personal pref & informed choice, if the chap knows the potential consequences, than it's his choice whether to act or no.

yep, I wasn't suggesting it MUST be switched on, just that people should consider what it's doing before deciding if they need it or not (in much the same way as the "I don't need any steenking antivirus/firewall/clue stick because I know what I'm doing and I don't download warez" crew don't)

If it's annoying you that much, turn it off, set up the machine as you want it, then turn it back on again.

    Otherwise: http://www.tweak-uac.com/what-is-tweak-uac

Otherwise, refer to this thread: How do you turn off user a/c control in vista?.
