    KDE 3.5 alt-f2

I'm running Gentoo at work with KDE3.5. Usually when you press alt-f2 you get the run command box, but for whatever reason it's not working with my install (even though it's as far as I can tell, exactly the same build as any of the other gentoo boxes we have there and they work fine).

I've tried googling but the search terms i've tried don't exactly show any decent results. I've tried the keyboard settings in the control centre along and it's in no way different from the working installs.

So, any ideas of how I can reenable this? Failing that, does anyone know the command that would open a run box?

    Cheers!

Silly question, is your keyboard a media (muti-function) keyboard? If it is, are the F-keys enabled on the keyboard. E.G. before my F-keys work I have to press the F-lock key to enable them, before I do this they just work as media keys.

And there's nothing diff to the other pcs that work? This sounds like one of those wonderful computer anomalies that we have all learned to love.

Do the other function keys work as they should?

Have you asked on the gentoo forum? They may be able to help (certainly better than me, I'm stumped) http://forums.gentoo.org/

    Good luck

As far as I can tell the whole setup is exactly the same, hardware and install wise. Come to think of it I haven't checked the F keys at all, so I'll do that Monday and then give the Gentoo forums a go.

Welcome, does your head in sometimes doesn't it? With any luck there will be a simple answer from the gentoo forum.

It's Ctrl+Alt+F2, Alt+F2 is only for when you're already in a tty (Alt+F7 to get back into you're X session). Konsole is located in K Menu->System->Konsole. You can also bind the KDE Run dialog to a key combination of your choice in the KDE Control Centre.
