    OS install

This is my 1st attempt at installing an OP (Vista Ultimate) and I am already confused.

I have just put together a new PC, and i have used my old Hard drive which had XP Pro installed on it
and also a few games and other programs. I wanted to do a clean install, but a friend told me to just boot from the CD and it will erase all the previous Data and will install the only the Vista.
I have done this and now i have Vista but also it has made a folder named "old windows" and has all of the programs, games ETC that I wanted to get rid of. Also it is using 40GB of my HD! (120 down to 80). I think i have gone wrong somewhere and could really use some advice?!?! Please

You didn't tell it to format the drive when installing, or it saw the drive was formatted and didn't give you the option (Dont know if Vista does this, XP always asks you).
Or you are using an unattended warez copy that already has this set in a file.

Either way, just delete the data - its no biggie

Once you booted from CP, it's prolly easier to DELETE PARTITION....then CREATE NEW PARTITION...and then install into it
