Cloning boot drive from ide to sata
Hi
I was wondering if there was anyway to clone my Vista 64 install from an old ide boot drive to a brand new sata one and then making the sata one boot vista after removing the old ide drive.
Do I need to buy a specific app. or am I stuck using this really slow old ide drive until I redo a full install?
Thanks for any help
Re: Cloning boot drive from ide to sata
Acrons True Image 10 should do what your asking.

You may struggle to boot it without the SATA drivers installed though...

Thanks guys
The sata drive is already installed on the PC so all the drivers should be present already ( I think) so I might have a play around and see what happens, If it all goes tits up I can just reinstall I guess

How'd you get on? I found that the PATA MBR caused an issue, and I just reinstalled after disabling the IDE drives in BIOS.

Acronis worked fine but I had to repair the install using the Vista disc before it would boot.
After reading the forums it is a known issue with the software and Vista but it has been fine since
