    Vista Update

Hi, I have a retail copy of Vista Home Premium Upgrade and I was wondering if i uninstall it from my old system and install it onto a new-build would this be breaking the EULA and i would have to buy a new copy, or would i be okay to do this?

    Thanks,
    DK

Im pretty sure its fine if its a definete retail copy, and i think you can only do it once. OEM definetly cannot.

im not sure how you go about it though.

Retail has no limit, provided its only on one machine at a time (or you have more than one licence)
OEM is tied to the hardware its brought with.

    Re: Vista Update

I think it depends on what you are upgrading from. If you upgrade from an OEM copy of XP, you get an OEM vista license, regardless of the fact its a retail upgrade.

    Re: Vista Update

As Clunk says, if you upgrade an OEM license then you've no foot to stand on. If the upgrade was of an existing full retail license then that's fine. If you've used the upgrade of the upgrade trick then you've no legal license at all.

    Re: Vista Update

    Opp's missed the upgrade bit

Just for reference, ive heard that people have no problems reactivating a retail upgrade, even when its been used on a OEM copy.
Im not 100% up on the licence so you need to check if doing it will break the EULA, or if it has provisions for something like this. Although I suspect Clunk and Gav are correct
