Adobe Photoshop Help
ive made a few images with transparent back grounds but i am unable to save them for web or save them as anything i can upload them as other than jpg and similar that doesnt allowed transparency is there a way to fix this short of a reinstall. im runnning photoshop cs 3 Extended on windows xp

JPEG doesn't support transparency in any way, shape, or form. JPEG was designed for lousy compression of photographs, it was never intended to be 'for the web'. However, GIF and PNG formats do support transparency, lossless compression, and was designed for use on websites, PNG is a newer, sopped up GIF, so that's what you should use.

i can use png im just wondering why the save for web option is now greyed out all the time

"Save for web" is basically a bunch of options that let you pick what elements you don't mind losing out to compression, since PNG is lossless, it doesn't need to do that, the algorithms will always do their best to compress.
