Can a USB pen drive be used to make RAID driver disk ?
I have an Asus P5B Deluxe mobo and want to create a RAID 0 array for my system partition, using the on-board Intel Matrix RAID. However, all the documentation indicates I need a floppy drive to make a RAID driver disk on a floppy disk. This is a bit of a problem as I do not have a floppy drive.
As I understand it, I need the RAID driver disk as Windows XP cannot be installed on a RAID partition unless you provide it with the relevant RAID drivers.
Can I use a USB pen drive, or some other means to make a RAID driver disk ?
Re: Can a USB pen drive be used to make RAID driver disk ?
Not under XP (USB drive anyway)
The easiest way to do it is to slipstream the drivers to an install disk.
Google "nlite" and all will become clear :)

Nope you can only use USB drives (for raid drivers) with Vista unfortunately.

Thanks. I'm giving the nLite method a go.

Glad to hear mate :)
Now you know about nlite, google "Ryanvm" for more fun :)
You can slipstream all the patches that have been released for XP onto the disk, utilities and applications, tweaks....the list goes on :)
Of course, you probably won't need to do it now, but nice for future reference :)

I think I'm going to do this for my upcoming reinstall.

did this last weekend when i went to RAID0, got all the patches put on the cd at the same time. so, so useful. everyone should do it
