    Download managers

What download accelerators do you think are the best? I've tried reget, flashget, dap and recently download express. Download express is my favourite at the moment as it's free for home use and doesn't seem to have an upper limit on the number of streams you can use (though if I try 16 or more my pc just gives up as my hard drives are about to fail), most of the ones i've tried limit you to 8 or less. What do you think?

I was wondering if any download accelerators benefit from dual/quad core processors?

Flashget and Flashgot as a combo if you're using Firefox.

I bought and paid for "Internet Download Manager" as I really like it's cross-browser integration/features. http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/

    Re: Download accelerators

Getright is my download manager of choice, though it's not free. It's nagware, which means it's "free" but you have to put up with the messages asking you to buy it every now and again. Failing that, DownThemAll extension for firefox is good.

    Re: Download accelerators

Surely you can just use Firefox, click to download everything and anything you want and pause and unpause as you see fit?

Torrent programs are good for managing too, but obviously they only work with torrents

    Re: Download accelerators

depends - if you want to soak your bandwidth then a download manager is a good way to do it (if it supports multi part downloading)

    Re: Download accelerators

yep it's mainly for the download parts, if I click on save target as I get around 1000k/s, if I use a download manager I get around 1600k/s, in theory I should be getting over 2000k/s as that's my sync speed but I generally download from the US so doubt i'll get it that high.
