    No internet on Vista startup

Everytime I start up my computer (Vista Ultimate 32), I don't have a internet connection.
I always need to shutdown Zone Alarm, disconnect from my router, and reconnect. Then I got internet.
I think you agree this is really irritating, I need to do this EVERYTIME I start my computer.

So does anyone know how to solve this?

Get rid of zone alarm. The built-in Windows firewall is adequate for blocking unwanted programs, and your router will block incoming unwanted traffic as well.

    XP.

I had a similar thing on my laptop, where it had no connection for a couple of minutes after startup. In the end I reformatted, latest drivers, latest bios, latest firmware for router - still the same.

Went back to XP, runs much faster, and doesnt lose connection.

Re: No internet on Vista startup

Try reading this thread on ZA forums it might help. Not sure why you want to keep ZA whilst behind a router with a firewall even with wireless. You should have the router and your pc configured for security anyway so another firewall on your pc isn't going to be more secure. You may want to post on the ZA forum if you can't get it to work.

Re: No internet on Vista startup

    What can I use otherwise?
I don't have a firewall on my router (please don't go in that direction).
So ditch ZA, but what other firewall could I use?

Windows firewall is more than adequate, if you don't trust the software you run.

Yes it does. DNAT disallows all incoming connections, unless there's a forwarded port setup.
