Company of Heroes won't install :(

    Ok, here's the story.
There is a new patch out for the game that is 1.7GB, instead of downloading it from a website I decided to load the game up, go into multi-player and use the auto update thing. So in the game my patch downloads, after it is done the game closes and it automatically starts up the patching process. About a quarter the way through I get a blue screen

So, I restart and when windows loads up company of heroes is now gone, it is not in the games folder in vista, it's not in the start menu, and it's not in add and remove programs, however it's still on the hard drive in program files and it is also in the registry. So I deleted it from the hard drive and from the registry, (well i think i have, i searched 'company of heroes' and deleted it till it couldn't find anything else by that name.

Now when I come to re-install it starts the standard 'Preparing install' then it says there is already a version installed on my computer, what can I do? Please help.

Sounds like you're missing a reg entry somewhere. You'll need to get rid of it before you'll be able to reinstall the game.

I've not tried the new patch, so cant comment. 1.7Gb is a huge patch though - is that the cumulative or stand alone patch?

It's the patch from 1.71 - 2.0, it's so you can play online with people that have the expansion pack opposing fronts, so I guess it includes some stuff from that. I guess I'll go registry hunting again, if all fails I'll just re-install windows... I REALLY want to avoid that though.
