    Re: outlook sent emails

you need to enable read receiptes.

This is mostly only supported by exchange servers, or the old crappy technique of the reciever's client sending an email when its read back to you
    It is Inevitable.....

In all honesty if you have a message to get to someone and you need proof that they have read it email really isn't the way to do it. Good old recorded delivery is the way.

    Re: outlook sent emails

There isn't a guranteed way. You can only tell (by asking for a read receipt) if the e mail has been opened - but it may or may not be by the addressee, and they may not have read the contents but just opened it. (But that is true of any letter in hard copy too) However they might have an e mail client that allows them to choose whether to send a read receipt or not so absence of a read receipt does not mean that they haven't opened it.
