Any recommended books for learning Flash/Photoshop etc?

    Hey guys,
I seem to find myself being asked to do more and more banners and advertisements for work these days, and as such I'd really like to start learning how to properly use Flash CS3 and Photoshop CS3.

Are there any books that people would recommend to help with this, or do most find that a good web guide is better for a particular problem?

Although I can muddle around in PS, I'd really need something to teach me everything, from the basics and up.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be most appreciated.

    Thanks guys (and girls)

    Regards,

    R

Generally web guides are pretty good for the kind of situation where you want to know how to perform a particular task, but it's rare to find something which covers the basics onwards.

I would suggest pestering your company for a training course of some kind, after all, if they are expecting you to do graphics and banner work, they should help you develop the relevent skills.

They would otherwise need to pay a graphic artist/designer which would cost more than sending you on a course!

There arent that many books out yet on CS3 given how new it is, but for the most part the books on the cs2 suite or fash 8 should do the job.
For photoshop, the official adobe ones are quite good. For flash, macromedia flash 8 by Katherine Ulrich on peachpit press is a good straight forward book, which is great for getting started. I would also highly reccommend any of the flash books in the friends of ed series, http://www.friendsofed.com
You might also want to have a look on Lynda.com for online tutorials
