    Nero 8 on Vista

I've just got Nero 8, and have got stuck on a step before the installation process...

It wants to install DirectX 9c

Windows Vista has DirectX 10 built into it... so nero wants to downgrade me?

Can anyone advise on what to do here? I don't want the Nero installation to muck up Vista!

    Re: Nero 8 on Vista

I did a little googling on the problem, and someone said that the latest version of nero, 8.1, doesn't install directx9c... so I have downloaded that now, and installed it fine with no prompts about directx

    Re: Nero 8 on Vista

Nero 8 has been out hw long? and they are already on 8.1? goodness!

I would have expected a new build out fairly quickly after release, but not a full point increase in version.

    Re: Nero 8 on Vista

maybe the full point increase was mainly to fix the vista installation process demanding installation of directx9!

This is Nero, there would have been a hundred other bugs that they decided not to fix before RTM

As well as adding 800mb to the download, without actually adding anything to the program.

    QFT

I used to love Nero. Never use it now. Do you still need to download the entire install set again when they update the build? or have the managed to figure out how to patch their own software?

Me neither. Looking at the feature list, we haven't been missing much though:
