Speakers=Z-5500 Digital, Sound Board-Realtek ALC888, Can't seem to get 5.1 Digital ?
I'm having problems with my current sound system setup.
I am trying to connect my Shuttle SD39P2 through S/PDIF to my Logitech Z-5500 Digital speakers to
Get better sound and less cables behind PC.
But
I have it connected but the Logitech control panel displays http://www.logitech.com/repository/335/jpg/2437.1.0.jpg
Input: Optical 96-24
Effect: Stereo x2
But when i have it connected through Direct with the standard audio cables it displays
Input: Direct 96-24
Effect: 6 Ch Direct
How can i get it 6ch running through optical cable?
I take it has to be setup through the realtek audio panel but can't find the options? Any ideas

99% of SPDIF outputs ONLY give stereo. Check your spec....

My SPDIF does output 5.1 and it sounds Great....
Shuttle e-mailed me back and explained that i cant get 5.1 from just playing music or games, as output will only be stereo... but when playing a DVD through a player like Power DVD, that will then output 5.1 through SPDIF will give me 5.1 sound.
And it sounds Great!
Shame it will not remix all sounds to 5.1
Don't suppose any one knows of any software i could buy that will remix all sounds to 5.1?
LOL just a thought :rolleyes:
