Got my shiny new G0 Q6600. Now before I slap it in, will Vista throw a wobbly and ask for activation again?
Not that I'm bothered, but if it is likely to, then I'd rather just do a re-install.

I changed a E6600 to a E6850 and didn't have to re-activate.
Running Vista 64 bit home premium OEM copy.
Let's find out then! I've got Vista Business 32 Action Pack Version.
If nothing else has changed then you won't need to reactivate.
Well....it was a little more involved than just slapping the processor in...
1. The retention pins on the cooler just wouldn't go in...bent the plastic thingys and it's buggered......argghhhh. Luckily I have a spare AC7 and 30 mins later we get there.
2. The BIOS complained about CPU microcode, so I had to flash the BIOS.
3. the CMOS reset game me a heartstopping moment when the SATA Raid was disabled.
4. I had to re-install the NVidia drivers.
5.Windows Media sharing has stopped working..but no biggie so far.
BUT...We now have a beautifully working machine with 4 Cores!!! Bring it on!
Are you really running your system with a 380w PSU?
Yeah I know...I think a 600 or better has to be next. You know what it's like...start small and it all takes over. it was just an e4300 with a 6600GT to begin with...
After posting I wondered that too. To be honest, the machine is running fine. Although as a compromise I think a 520W might not be a bad idea.
