Re: Windows update causing computer to crash

    what sort of 'crash',
    - internet explorer freezing?
    - blue screen of death
    - whole computer freezing
    - instant reboot

does this happen on any other websites?

Re: Windows update causing computer to crash

It comes up with a blue screen and i think it is IE now thats causing it, i use firefox usually.

Edit: I updated to IE7 and now niether of them open at all but it's not crashing. I am changing some settings in the bios from clunks overclocking thread. Although i am running at stock at the moment till i get a new case and heatsink and fan.

Re: Windows update causing computer to crash

I have managed to sort out windows update by following the advice from one of the links, IE is now working ok and i have installed all the updates.

But i got another blue screen with saying memory dump when i tried to apply the v1.25 patch for battlefield 2142. So i guess i am back to square one.

I ran orthos on the blend test for around half an hour no probs.

So i'm at a loss, does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Windows update causing computer to crash

Yes i was thinking that, i ran memtest v3.2 and when i check later it had stopped with a message saying unexpected halting interrupt.

Is that a memory faliure or a problem with memtest?

Try taking one stick out at a time. See if you have problems.
