    Freezing Panes in Excel

We have a spreadsheet that has the dates of the working week at the top and the names of employees down the side. I've frozen the panes, the problem is we have a worksheet for each week so currently I'm having to go through each worksheet and freeze the panes (used a macro to speed it up at least a bit). What I want is to apply freeze panes globally to the same cell in every workbook. Is there a way to do this?

Also, the spreadsheet is shared so that any users on the network can access it, however if I freeze the panes on 1 worksheet, they aren't frozen for any other users, just me. There must be a way to get around this because I've been here 3 weeks and previously the dates only went to the end of this year with me being asked to extend it until 2009. The thing is, for all the dates that are already there (i.e that the person before me set up) freeze panes is working for every user, but when I'm trying it, it's not working (before you say why don't I just ask the person before me how she did it, she's travelling across Oz so we have no way to get hold of her).

    Thanks for any help,
    Chris.

    Re: Freezing Panes in Excel

Excel has templates like Word has "Normal.dot".

Make a copy of the default template and adjust it with the formatting you want.

You will need to start a new workbook based on this template but you could copy over the worksheets you already have. Each new worksheet should be based on the one from the template.

You might need to put the template on the network so everyone else gets the same behaviour. You'll need to find out Excel's path to shared templates, depends on the version of Office and your installations.

Might take some messing around with this sort of stuff to get it how you want it
