You can use Sysprep to make the machine imagable, then all you do is put in a new key, user details etc.

    Hmmm.

    Can you clarify please, s3ds.

Are BOTH licence keys legitimate? i.e. you have two legit of XP OEM, and you're just trying to save the hassle of the full install process on the second machine?

If not, what you're missing for the second is a valid licence, and we have a firm policy on HEXUS about piracy. Without that assurance, we'll have to delete this thread.

    Thanks.

Provided as Saracen says, its a legal key, its very easy to do this
Microsoft even provide the tools on their site to change the key for system admins here

There are plenty of free tools to clone the disk too. Im fairly sure the UBCD (Google it) has a few on it

yes both are legitimate oem xp pro sp2c purchased from scan with hardware
yes i am trying to save the hassle ( normaly machines are slightly different )

    hope this helps

cloning the disk is not a problem
I just wondered if there are any complications
since one of the pc's has been registered ( other will be registered with same name ) and is fully updated eg WGA has been run
both pc's are for work running identical software
    btw im using SAS drives

    Regards Paul

"( its not the install its the patching that takes the time )" Not forgetting all the re-booting in between some patches.
