It won't tell yopu what was copied though, only the ID of the USB stick and when it was connected.
Will you not need that installed before the event?

Otherwise it would mean that Windows is in fact storing random info about you

It's not that bad (assuming it does indeed log it) Linux logs practically everything by default.

so, if you already confronted your gf, why not just ask her more and show them your msn logs??

your gf is obviously paranoid about something!!

Yes - and...? (For example, every website you have ever visited (using ie) is stored. Just by using your computer you leave tell tale traces behind. Everytime you log onto a website you give away your IP address, operating system, browser version etc etc. Your IP address gives away your geographical location - the list goes on.

    Re: Tracking File Movement?

Well all the examples you have provided are more valid then a home user using their USB stick.

    Re: Tracking File Movement?

Windows stores information about the USB stick - thats how it allocates the same drive number to the same stick time after time - and why you only get the 'found new hardware' message the first time you connect a new piece of hardware to the machine. How else could it do that if it disn't store the information?

    Re: Tracking File Movement?

I was thinking more along the lines of it storing the exact time you put in a USB stick each time, not the fact you put one in if you get me

Oh and its called a driver
