    dual boot

I have two hard drives in my computer and i run WINXP on both i recently formatted and reinstalled one of them and reinstalled some of the software.
When i tried to reboot i got the message no NDLR restart but restarting the same thing happened, so using a Partition floppy disk i changed form a primay partition to logical and the computer booted normally.
Could any one tell me what is the difference in primary and logical.
    Thanks in anticipation jhad

    Re: dual boot

Do you mean a logical partition or an extended partition? A physical drive is partitioned into up to 4 primary partitions, each one can be given a drive number so it appears as discrete drive - these are logical drives.

To overcome the 4 partition limit, a partition can be defined as an extended partition. An extended partition is a 'container' that that contain other partitions - which overcomes the 4 primary partition limitation. Each extended partition may also contain normal or extended partitions - each of the normal partitions can be designated as a logical drive (up to 24 in Windows - A and B are reserved for floppy disks).
