    PHPBB mods

Anyone got any idea how to install them? I'm a complete novice and want to install an antispam thingy on a forum. I've downloaded the mod, but there's no read me - or nothing that makes any sense!

    Any ideas?

It's usually just a matter of opening the install_mod.xml in your browser.

    Re: PHPBB mods

Depends entirely on the mod, some require you to do minor changes to the various pages, others come with an installer, and others are a right PITA with zero documentation.

Best bet, check the readme file, it should cover how you're supposed to get the mod working. Generally speaking stick to those that advertise "Easy - 1-10 minutes".

    Re: PHPBB mods

Well, this is supposedly easy and will install in 3 minutes. I don't think so!

You're right the documentation seems pretty poor, so I found something called EasyMod which is supposed to make the process of installing these mods easy. I can't even get that to blummin work - why? No bloody decent instructions!

I'm giving up, cos I know I'll only bring the forum down if I keep tinkering.

/edit - got it working. What a ballache!

    Re: PHPBB mods

I'd never trust EasyMod myself, I always hard coded mods in myself as most came with instructions that at least said "put this after this line, this after this line etc..."

Anything designed to save time is guarenteed to take twice as long.

Well, it seems to have worked with 3 mods so far without any issues. All good in the hood

    Re: PHPBB mods

I used easy mod on my forum. Works its wonders but make sure you install stuff in a logical order otherwise it will mess stuff up.

Also, its easier if you pick the template you deffo want to use permanently first, as installing the mods on templates afterwards can be a pain.

    Good luck.
