Try Vista backup to an external HD, then swap HDs and restore on to the new one. Should be a breeze (and free).

Iv'e been trying FOG SourceForge.net: Version 0.04 recently, does the job of ghosting nicely.

ShadowProtect Desktop from Storage Craft. StorageCraft - Provider of online disk backup software, disaster recovery, data storage, data protection, anti virus, anti spyware and internet privacy solutions

I bought it last February and it works great. I only use the Recovery CD - take an imahe of my clean and perfect system, then can re-image back to that state in just a few minutes. I also tried Acronis True Image 10 - which I found pants compared to Shadow protect.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.
