Software Testing (Integration)

I've been tasked with writing my company's procedures for the testing of any new software/upgrades we get through, but to be honest, I haven't a clue where to start. Does anyone know of any websites that hold any software testing templates/procedures that I could peruse?

EDIT: Just to be definitive, this is for software we have bought and need to test for compatability with other software on our builds before we let it loose on the network-attached PCs.

2) install updates
3) test for regressions

I know, but our ISO people are probably going to expect a bit more meat on the bones...

so write test cases for the actual regression testing. that's the meat.

coordinate with someone who uses the software on a day-to-day basis for what kind of things need testing

generate user cases to create baselines

take the core user tasks for this software
eg: add account, manage account, generate invoice
test them on the mirror machines suggested

generate interfgration cases
pass an invoice onto your printing system
pass an account to your sales team software
run a report against the data from the new system


Generate end to end cases
create 3 accounts and see them through from creation to work to job, to closing the account

Document your bug logging process
Document and define a bug priority scale (this is important so that all testers have criteria to asses a bug)

Create regular reports on your tests and bugs
Document a "fix" plan with information such as time to fix, and cost to fix and a business case on if this software is fit for purpose technically and froma business perspective.

That should get you through your auditing of your testing.
