The team broke 55k points for a day, almost 20% better than our previous day. Lets keep this up

Re: What a day for folding.. (14th Nov)

Pretty good - but it was an exceptional result - te average over 7 days was about 25,000/day - and a look at the graph shows how the daily points fluctuates from day to day - but the trend is ever upwards - and long may that continue!

Ahhh - thanks for that - looking at the piccys that directhex posted made my poor little socket A linux machine look very insignificant! (It isn't doing badly though! )

no supercomputer in the world can compete with the total processing power of f@h

it's for different kinds of work though

interestingly, some of the cores used by f@h are real apps we'll be running on our system - gromacs is a code our users use, and cpmd is useful for benchmarking (dunno if anyone's running it for real though)

Very true! (I took part in the Grid project, although annoyingly the code they used was only available under Windows (there was a linux version, but Grid didn't license it) )

but these 'superclusters' can have tremendous power.

However - getting back on topic... This link

Extras Page - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats

shows that the Hexus team hourly point generation is pretty much costant (a very slight trend upwards) and that the rate of points increase is linear. (although there is that slight sinusoid around the average trend line)

So I suppose the message from that is that more folders are needed!

*nod*, at this rate we will make the top 100, but not for another year, so, we need more points/folders/POWER!

I'll be back in with another 4 cores in a couple of weeks.

That is, if i can get two SMP installs working again between getting home from Nigeria and heading down to MK
