    Question Vista <> DEP?

have vista 64 business. self install, all running smoothly until recently. 2 DVD authoring progs suddenly refused to start ("windows has found a problem and has closed the program")

turns out that DEP is responsible, so added them progs as exceptions and all running smoothly again

Question: is it good to have DEP running at all? IIRC, I turned it off on my XP machines without consequence. I don't know enough about the workings of vista though

    TIA

    Re: Vista <> DEP?

If it's not causing too many problems it is probably best to keep it enabled (it's supposed to function better under vista than xp) as an extra security layer.

Obviously if you start getting too much hasstle from it, then it is up to you to decide if it is worth keeping it enabled or not.
