EDIT: 10 minutes after I posted this and it seems we just past IBM!

We need to bump up the number of users with PS3's.
The difference between my AMD Barton 2500+ (wrongly thought he was a 2400 earlier ) and my folks old crappy laptop is staggering.
Cruddy intel laptop at approx 60% of a 5000 step job, AMD at 30% of a 1500 step job :s
They were started within 5 mins of each other and neither have been used for anything which should have detracted from the folding (bit of web browsing on each)
Wow - that is a major kick by Directhex - the computing equivalent of injecting Nitrox into the engine! Look at the extreme overclocking stats! www.HEXUS.net - Team Summary - EXTREME Overclocking Folding @ Home Stats

Been helped or just 'Like' a post? Use the Thanks button!
My broadband speed - 750 Meganibbles/minute
Doug, they are different unit types so they will run at different speeds independent of the CPU type. Of course the may be a CPU element as well (probably is) but until they both do the same type of unit you cant really compare, not all frames are created equal!
Ah ok :]
I'm sure in general the AMD is a better machine, probably due to it having double the RAM and a decent GFX card
It's done me well over the last 3 years anyway :]
I'm going to order a replacement HDD for my dead box and get that back up and running ASAP, I wish the pande group would pull their finger out of their ass about using other graphics cards for GPU folding...
Apparently the 3870's stream processing should utterly monster the units...
I did toy around with the thought of buying a 40gb PS3 purely for folding, but I'm not sure if it's worth the cost/point

Sod it for the price I'd upgrade your 'my system' pc and build another out of left over parts!
I agree with the GPU thing, would be great to see nVidia cards able to fold, I've got an 8800 and a 6600 doing nothing for 90% of the time
LOL, I've already got 2 main pc's a laptop and a PS3 - I think that should be sufficient... I don't run the laptop with folding, I don't like it running 24/7..
The other box just needs another couple of gigs of ram and a new HDD, and that can start crunching again, although I might see if I can nab a nice x1950 from ebay and get it gpu folding too..
