Thread: corrupt file

    corrupt file

    A friends computer wont boot up it starts to boot then restarts after the windows progress bar shows.
    The O/S is WINXP ive tried reinstalling the the O/S but part way through the instal i get the message ( dmboot.sys is corrupt ) and i cant get any further with the instal.
    Any help would be appreciated jhad

    Try the ram first, download Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool & run that, see if it throws up any errors.

    Try F8, troubleshooting mode, on reboot (key in just after F10 recovery display). You may get into the XP System in Safe Mode and restore to a previous safe system restore point.

    Icouldn't boot up in any mode but i have managed to reinstal WinXP i got rid of the corrupt file message just by wiping the cd.
