Automatically save text before posting in forums

I'm sure you have all had this happen to you. You type a post for a forum and for some reason when you press the "post button" the forum does something silly and you lose what you had typed.

Now I usually try to copy and paste a post into notepad if it starts to get a bit long but I often forget so,

Is there any Firefox addon or software that would automatically copy/save or cache the text whenever I write in a forum box?

good idea, i think the forum software should 'cookie' the info on the client with javascript.

that way any (worthwhile) browser would automatically remeber it. Who is hexus's web monkey?

I usually press backwards on my mouse, and firefox/opera keeps a copy of the text in the window. Worth a try.

That sometimes works but quite often I find it doesn't. Isuppose it depends on teh forums format.

Re: Automatically save text before posting in forums

always works for me in firefox except if i close the tab, but if the forum makes an error i just refresh the tab and a notice comes up saying the page you refreshed contains POST data (the info that was sent to the page) and it ask's if you would like to resubmit all that. That works too.

should work in every browser worth its salt, enless the page on the server has changed, if the page has changed and the headers iform the browser, then it will (and should) be reset to the default.

That's what I do, but it's a bugger when you hit control+v instead.
