VS2008 RTM - is this really an RTM build?

This is a question to other msdn subscribers who might have started working with this latest build of VS2008 recently..is anyone else finding this build just as buggy (if not more so) than beta 2?

I've had quite a few 'show stoppers' where visual studio will crash when I accidentally load the xaml designer (a problem caused by the very annoying default split view), just as it did with Beta 2. Usually its just a crash to desktop with no error message. Very strange.

I'm also finding the xaml editor *very* slow to use in comparison to beta2, especially if I have a large xaml file loaded and then i alt-tab to another application and back again..theres a definite pause of a few seconds before it becomes responsive again.

I've not had any problems with the standard code editor (beyond a few minor issues with intellisense), but quite a few with the xaml editor.

It just stinks of not being ready for release, i'm struggling to believe its actually an RTM build..is it just me or are any of you having similar issues?

I'm using it on Vista by the way, and its a machine that did have beta2 on it previously, but thats been cleaned off..I guess that could be the problem, but only a format or some answers from here will tell me that

Wouldn't normally ask such a question with a software product..especially a Microsoft one..but Visual Studio has long been the exception to the rule and has been a quality product which has been well developed.

been using it smoothly on a XP box and server 2003 box since beta two, but then i don't do much GUI work, so don't use the designer much. Only GUIs i've made are simple test bed type things.

Have you considered using your MSDN support options, now its RTM they should take your bugs seriously?

I think i'll end up trying a re-install first and then contact them if i'm still having problems; from prior experience it makes it much easier to get problems fixed if your starting from a replicatable situation

Code wise it does indeed seem fine and stable still, which is nice Just a pita when I have to edit a bit of xaml too ;/
