    adobe read 8.0 error

    hi i have downloaded the demo/free version of adobe reader from there website and i am unable to open the application. what happens is when i first open the program i get this screen:



    and the when i click on the x closing box, this message pops up.

    If you've tried a reinstall of Adobe Reader to no avail, then it's most likely a registry issue. Uninstall AR, delete the directory in which it was installed (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Reader or whatever) and then delete the registry key which contained the Adobe Reader settings (most likely HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Reader and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Reader). I don't have Adobe Reader myself so I can't verify these.

    An easy alternative would be to install Foxit Reader instead, which many feel is better than Adobe Reader. It's certainly much less intrusive and demanding.

    umm not that i know of. i enabled it in windows firewall as an exception
