    Question CMD "Driverquery" - App To clean out unused drivers

    As the title says, just been digging round on my pc doing a bit of a clean up and one of the things I've been looking at is the drivers from hw that i use to have plugged in but since stop using.

    The cmd Driverquery will list the drivers used but am looking for a app that will remove the driver and associated reg key

    any ideas ?

    Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables > System Variables > New | name: DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES value: 1
    Then in Device Manager:
    View > Show hidden devices | Uninstall the leftover devices

    Fairly pointless though.

    As mentioned, you will hardly get any performance gain, the un-wanted drivers take up little space, might as well keep them for when you plug it back in.

    ++

    Any 'performance' gain is imperceivable, you're talking about saving maybe 0.0001s off your boot time, and saving a few kb on disk space (in a period where 500GB disks are treated like consumables), the benefits don't outweigh the effort, and there's even more benefits to not remove them.
