    TechNet Plus

This is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone here use this service? It's looking more and more likely that at work we'll end up with Vista machines before long, and I'd like to get some proper application testing done way before I make the move.

Now, on the one hand I could simply purchase one copy of Vista Business or Ultimate and go from there, but on the other, if I went down this route it looks like I could install Vista across a couple of machines for better test scenarios.

Also, does it still include access to Windows XP or other previous software versions such as Office 2003, or is it just the latest and "greatest" copies only?

    Re: TechNet Plus

This isn't pre-production testing, this is for taking software that we use day to day, and testing what kind of problems we'd face if we went to Vista.

Since our company doesn't actually write software, I thought this was the point of TechNet, to let IT managers get new versions of the software to a) see if they work and b) see if they like them enough to buy them.

I could be horribly wrong though, hence the questions

Its a good question, and I'd imagine your are correct - pre-production environments would class as the 'testing' you want to do so if an MSDN subscription is cheaper then that may well be a better idea.

    Re: TechNet Plus

I wonder what an MSDN subscription costs then??

I noticed there was an MSDN vs TechNet PDF and that in my circumstances, "the IT bloke", it's better suited.

I also suspect my boss will misuse this horribly, so I wonder if it's safer to keep quiet
