Vista 64bit showing 3Gb of memory?

Hi ive got Vista Home Premium 64bit loaded, and 4x1gig Ocz 6400 on a Asus P5B deluxe, but in the bios and Vista system properties its showing up as 3gig only? I have the latest bios from Asus. I have tried enabling the Memory Remap Feature in the bios and my system just hangs. Can anyone help?
    System Specs - OCZ Modstream 520W, P5B Deluxe, 4Gb OCZ 6400, E6600@ 3.6Ghz, Audigy sound card, XFX 8800GTS XXX 640mb graphics card.

If the BIOS is only seeing 3Gb the OS will only see that amount. Have you tried swapping the DIMMs around?

Hmmm, have you increased the RAM voltage to the manufacturer's recomended total? Are you overclocking your memory in any way? IIRC there's an issue with that board and using 4 DIMM's at PC6400, try setting it manually back to PC5300 and see if it lets you boot.

I'm running 4x1Gb of Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400 in my P5B Deluxe Wifi and it works fine, though I did manually set the RAM voltage to 2.1v (that said, I did that when I only had 2Gb installed, so you may have a point)

Re: Vista 64bit showing 3Gb of memory?

    1) enter bios
    2) locate any settings relating to "memory hole" or "mttr" or "contiguous memory" or somesuch
    3) fiddle with the setting

Re: Vista 64bit showing 3Gb of memory?

I have tried setting the memory to PC5300, voltage to 2.00, timings were 5-5-5-15 and the northbridge vcore to 1.25. Everything boots, but when I enable the Memory Remap Feature in the bios it still hangs.

    Hey there,

I had the same issue with 4x1GB OCZ platinum / P5B-E. Try flashing the BIOS to the latest version before you enable the memory remapping.

Re: Vista 64bit showing 3Gb of memory?

I had a similar problem when I installed an extra 2Gb last night, the BIOS only saw 3Gb until I enabled the Memory Remapping.

It's in the Northbridge menu raverbaby.
