Windows Vista Basic...

Vista Basic, what can I say. So many words to describe it, none good.

Today I finally got XP professional and "downgraded" my laptop from Vista Basic to XP. While it had Vista Basic the laptop took anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes to start up and I wouldn't even dare try to load anything til it was finished booting up as it would just crash programs. The interface is shoddy, a good XP interface is better than a poor mans Vista. And just generally doing anything was slowwww.

I'm not just bashing Vista as I have Vista Home Premium on a computer at home and really like it but I just don't get what Microsoft were thinking with Basic, I got it pre-installed with my laptop but on Amazon it retails for £160????

Anyway, after downgrading to XP it takes seconds to boot up and everything is nice and quick with a cleaner interface. So now I can finally use this laptop without wanting to throw it out a window.

Just felt like having a wee rant lol.

Yup, just got a new desktop with vista basic... its very fast at loading...

If it was preinstalled, it probably had loads of preinstall crap starting up with it as well.
