    Simple Video Editing Software Needed.

I need to crop a section of a 20 min video. It's MP4 format (277MB). So I need a piece of software preferably free but it must be iranu proof i.e as simple as possible.

Windows movie maker won't import the file. I've used

Blaze Media Pro trial but this produces poor quality (and I suspect that's part of the trial).
Sony Vegas Pro trial ??? wtf no idea how to use it.
Jahshaka I can get it to crop but can't save that cropped piece, again wtf?? confusing and it causes BSOD.

A few other free bits of shareware that do the job but will only look at the first 5 mins of video so you have to buy them.

The only way I can see of doing it is to convert to avi, (produces a 6GB file) crop in avi then reconvert to MP4 (or another format) using free software. I need the resulting file to be small cos I want to send it to someone to host it.

Any ideas? All will be appreciated.

virtualdubmod? its free. but it can be advanced. try the free mediacoder. its more of a transcoder but you can still crop with it.
