it's for private university use, and it's in the process of being commissioned - it needs benchmarking and testing before being opened up to users

so it sits idle, or it does something. the kit's been idle since november waiting for progress from the vendors

sounds familiar... plenty of CPUs sitting idle at Bristol because no-one actually seems to have the job of administering them, and hence they just sit in the server room next door and fester. Great use of money.

we have lots of people who want to use the kit, but it's not ready for them to use yet. these things take time and testing
