SMP won't load on bootup

Lo dudes.

New version of SMP is in, and it runs fine when I click on the icon, but for some reason it won't run automatically on XP booting up

I have put the fah.exe into the Startup file and get this error everytime I boot.

But it runs fine if I click on the icon. Any idea? My PC is called sugo by the way

Close it -> Open the FAH install dir with command prompt -> run install.bat -> re-enter deails Done

with command promt.....whqt.....no windows....yeah, right! How the hell do I do that?

I've run the install bat from the directory like I did on the first installs, but not fixed it.

Is this cos I have killed off my need to use paswords at boot up? (see previous thread 6 weeks ago)

As long as a password is still assigned to the account that wont stop it. Mine auto logins too
If you have removed the password entirely, that will cause issues though.

Type "CMD" (no quotes) and press enter.
Type / copy and paste "CD C:\Program Files\Folding@Home Windows SMP Client V1.01" (no quotes) and press enter
Type in "install.bat" (no quotes) and press enter.
Read and answer questions

nope....password still there.

Tried re activating the password (ie having to type it in at boot) and the SMP kicked in straifght away.

Then set XP to not need my password and it's broken again. And yet it WILL run if I click on the icon, even the one in Startup.

What do I do to run the bat from command prompt then?

ok, did as instructed, seemed fine..but didn't sort it

Will try going back t basics, uninstall it, turn on password thingy....go from beginning

Although I've been learning Vi properly the last few days. Now thats daunting.

Right click on the window -> paste.
I dont know of any other way to do it, but if anyone does, do share

I had exactly the same issue Zak.

Guess what though - started the machine up this morning, and it's working fine without any intervention!
