    Graphing in Excel

Okay, my boss has asked me to take three seperate sets of value (y-axis) data with totally different scales (one percentage, one currency and one number) which all share the same categories (x-axis) and he wants them all plotted on one large graph.

I can plot two seperate y-axes against one x-axis no problem and I can plot the third set of data against the same x-axis on a seperate chart but getting two charts to sync along one axis (the x axis, one above the other) accurately seems to be pretty much impossible.

Does anyone know of any way of solving this (without resorting to expensive charting packages)?

    Re: Graphing in Excel

Best bet is to borrow Microsoft's trick here and use a scalar on one or more of the data and just use a small label on each line to indicate this.

(E.g. if the % is far to small to match on the other items scale, multiply that up by 100)

It's okay, I found a very complex method which I adapted which provided (almost) perfect results. It only took me 'a few' hours to figure out how to apply it

What was it out of interest? I don't do many graphs in Excel, but it's always worth knowing

    Re: Graphing in Excel

I used a combination of this 'http://peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsHowTo/PanelUnevenScales.html' and this 'http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/StackedCharts.html' and as I said, it still took a while to apply the theory to my own results but it was worth it.

Great site for Excel tricks though!
