HD DVD & Blu Ray windows player

Due to problems with cyberlink, see other threads I have decided to throw the towel in, and buy another player. powerdvd even causes my windows updates to fail! In my case, to say its vista compatible is just laughing. Intervideo WIN DVD? Anyone experienced hitches with either powerdvd or intervideo under Vista? The drive also spins up and down, suggesting mastering errors.

WinDVD 8 is meant to be horrible. Nero Showtime will playback HD-DVD/BD, but I've not used it.

Arcsoft's Total Media Theatre works well for me, you could give the trial of it a shot. Lots of people seems to have issues with it mind. See here for info:

HD DVD is dead now. You might as well get a blu ray only player, unless you have a few HD DVDs already.

EDIT - after a re-read, you're probably referring to software, but this still stands for anyone wanting the hardware i suppose.

HDDVD is dead for new releases, but it represents cheap prices for HD quality in the short term as everywhere sells off inventory.
