    Quad cores

You know, I was just looking at the team list there and I am in there at number 8 best producer at the moment and the only thing I am running is a slightly o/c'd Q6600. That got me thinking, how many people on this forum must have a Q6600 or better? Must be a fair few, maybe it would be worth having a drive to nab some Q6600 users like Zak did with the X1900's?

    Re: Quad cores

Feel free to go and bang your drum!

I think most people are in the I can't be bothered group which is possibly made worse by the SMP client being a pain to get running sometimes... personally not had any troubles but a lot of people seem to!

But if we can get more people folding it is only a good thing but remember we want everyone not just Q6600s, every little helps!

just wondering if someone could help me set up the SMP thingy.. if that's what it's called..

i'm using the graphic display 1 atm.. been going about 15 hours and it's only done 195/1500 frames, if i turned my PC off would it abandon that and start a new 1?

    Re: Quad cores

I actually tried the other day using SMP..

Left it for like 15 Hours and all i had was a dos window saying "Working"..

CPU usage was at 100% throughout the whole time, don't know it it was actually working or had crashed but i quit it just because it didn't seem ot be doing anything interesting.

    lo matty.

turning off any of them is fine, and when you turn it back on it'll carry on

    Re: Quad cores

So with a Q6600 the average time to complete 5000 steps is around 10 minutes yeah?

You get loads of points on a Q6600. I get nearly 2k a day and I don't even run it 24 hours a day because I game on it after work and on weekends.

    Re: Quad cores

Iain it will all depend on what clock speed you are running, my duel core at 2.8GHz completes 1% every 15-16 minutes so if you were at 2.8GHz expect a percentage point every 8 minutes or so. At 2.4Ghz you may be looking at more like 10-12 minutes per percentage point.

    Re: Quad cores

    it's not just clock speed

    it's RAM amount. I run 4 gig of PC5300/5400 (ie 667)

Mine is a Quad at 2.67 (default for an QX 6700) but with 4 gig of ram it runs through stuff faster than when I had 2 gig.

I've taken out 2 gig to test this, and it goes up from about 10.5 minutes per percent to just over 13 minutes

And yes.....XP 32bit can only address 3,25 gig of it.

Im running the graphical version when doing F@H on my system (check my system for spec)

Would I be better changing to the dos version or sticking with what I have? I keep forgetting to turn my client on

I've been meaning to set my QX6700 folding for ages now. I might actually do it tonight after reading this thread. I've got my PS3 going about 20hrs a day now.
