I have just put together some new parts

    - E4500
    - OCZ platinum PC6400

    along with the exsisting

    - 3 sata HDDs
    - Lite-on Sata DVD rewriter
    - 320MB 8800GTS
    - Xclio greatpower 550w
    - Auzentech Xplosion

I have been trying to get XP MCE on for 24 hours now and its driving me insane, i got it to install once but it wouldnt recognise the mouse and keyboard in USB. Now when i boot i get the message BOOT DRIVE FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

I have my boot drive priority set up correctly, i have tried the boot order in all different configurations and im stumped, any ideas lads?

Is your BIOS definitely seeing all the hard drives correctly? If it is, I'd try booting to a recovery console using the XP CD and run a "fixboot" and "fixmbr" and go from there ..

    Re: issues with new computer

i think the issue was down to an old boot record in a different hard drive, it seems to be working now, took a while for it to recognise my mouse but it did eventually. No doubt i will have more issues on the way to competing the build so watch this space

    Re: issues with new computer

Ok having a few problems still, windows and everything seems to work "ok" but for some reason programs hang when i try and open them for the first 2-3 minutes once windows is all loaded. This cant be antivirus or any other software running in the background cuz its a clean install. Another issue which has occured with a few peoples computers throughout the halls im in is with windows messenger and update, for some reason they dont seem to connect to the microsoft servers, any ideas i could look into?

Note: this software all works fine if its installed outside of halls then the computer is brought into them
