Hi.

I've made a website (content not all in yet) for a hosting/internet solutions company. Just wondering if you guys could give me your opinion.

It's not altogether complt yet but the outlay and general look is mostly there.

Would appreciate any comments/thoughts.

The drop shadows on the dedicated servers pics is a bit iffy, but thats just being picky

Probably not in plain old hosting as that market is pretty much saturated, but in Value Added systems, e-learning hosted solutions, busines management, project management solutions, then yes, there is money to be made

I'd also be very reluctant to even think about buying anything without a) examples of previous work b) references / testimonials ( real ones at that )

nb. the following is possibly a bit overcritical , but I've seen so many companies that are "site over substance" - Anyone with a copy of photoshop and notepad can make something that looks and sounds flashy - you have to do more than put a few buzzwords down to actually convince people.

what a site says it can deliver and what actually happens can be very different.

To be honest, your V emblem looks rather similar to that of Verbatim's. Maybe that's just me.

As for the site itself, you want to make the margins around the red announcement bar at the top of the page a bit wider - the text is currently right up against the edge. Also, copyright & brief contact details in the small print at the bottom of each page would help it look more like a reputable business. The same goes for a physical address and/or postal address on the "Contact Us" page.

Its not a bad site, yes its clear but the comments about content are important. The font on the logo text just doesn't look right to me, you have a regular form to the site and a quirky font used for the logo text.

About the V, I wouldn't say verbatim is close, but http://www.invisionboard.com/ certainly is.....

I know there is content missing , but my standpoint is that you dont offer anything more than the 100's of other people with some colo space ( which is dirt cheap ) Its the clear copy and paste from your hosts in the whole bragging rights bit - my old company where just as guilty. Personally I like companies to be honest about being resellers.

You really need a unique selling point to make people want to choose you.
From your other thread I notice you are a student. If I'm placing the well being of my Companies E-Commerce with you ( which may well be a key line of business ) I dont want to be told that you cant fix my problem because you have a lecture.

I would advise against portaying the "big firm" image unless you can back that up with "big firm" reliability.

this doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it , but it does mean that you should go for a less corporate approach. When I was in outsourcing / hosting / managed services , We actualyl lost a couple of deals because our Sales folk padded the company out too much the client felt that we where too big to care about them.

We are making a profit at the mo which is good, and all of our customers are much more than impressed with the service so that's all i'm rally worried about for now.

Good Stuff - Running a small business isn't easy , and its good to see that the skys are clear at the moment. As long as your have adequate plans in place for when things start to go pearshaped you'll do fine !

Sites useless to me. Doesn't render properly in the latest version of Opera, I, and many other Opera users I know do actually avoid using companies who fail to bother to make their sites work in Opera, so you may want to consider making it work properly.
