Self Image is exactly that "Self-image", I am really looking for either a boot disk which can do it or network boot.
g4u is what I want but for some reason the NetBSD kernel won't boot on my laptop :(, it's an Acer Aspire 5684WLMi (Core2 T5600 etc), any ideas?
Thanks
Acronis TrueImage 8 is one the cover mount disk of a couple of mags this month.
If you have either a Maxtor or Seagate HDD (doesn't matter which) then the free version of Acronis from the HDD manufacturer's site will do it. Maxblast is possibly a tad more recent - it's v10.
Yes - and Maxblast on Maxtor's site. Seagate and Maxtor are noe the same, so it doesn't matter which you use.
Don't know if v10 will work under Vista though.
Yeah,I googled it :P v 11 is official for Vista, but the seagate website says its diskwizard is compatible with Vista, maybe it has limited functionality compared to my Acronis 11 :P
Yes, the free versions are a bit limited in other ways, apart from needing the right make of disk.
I might be a tad late but here's another one (possibly similar to G4L):
PING (Partimage Is Not Ghost)
It can boot from the network or be burnt to disc.
Thanks for the replies guys, I will try "PING" and "G4L" tonight... G4U doesn't work on my laptop - NetBSD won't boot! :(
I've just come across DriveImage XML - not tried it yet
Data Recovery Software - File System Utilities
Found it in the following list, which may be quite good
