    A2 Computing Project

Right, my A2 computing project this year is to link a database to some kind of frontend set-up that can be used to access all the data in the database and ecit it depending on the restrictions applied to the user. I can do it in visual basic but over the last few weeks i've been considering using php and my-sql, as it'd be nice to learn a new language at the same time as doing the coursework.

Has anyone got any links to any decent tuorials or any tips on how i should go about this?

best tutorial to start on PHP and MySQL is to download the first four chapters of Sitepoint's book from http://www.sitepoint.com/books/phpmysql1/

Can't recommend them enough for books and online support

i did mine in VB knox, as it seemed to be easier as i knew a bit about it all and i havnt really looked in SQL yet

its a database and a VB front end like u might have done, its a bit shabby but im not goin to bother too much the whole programming side is only worth 12/60 marks iirc

I did mine in PHP and MySQL last year. I got 113/120 marks for it, therefore an A

If you've never touched PHP or SQL though knox, your leaving it very late to learn it and do all the coursework to go with it !
Will help you with what i can in my spare time though, you know how to get my attention

I was going to do it in PHP and MySQL, but my teacher siggested against it. So we all are doing it in Delphi (pascal).
Probably easier that way, as I can get help from him and other class mates as they will know it as well.
Would be nice to try it one day though.

If you do try it, its probably easier if you can host it locally so you can test it easily etc, without uploading and all that stuff. If not www.web-mania.com will host you for £20/year which i think is excellent.
