I was wondering if I should look to use a download manager to speed up and allow resuming of downloads? I had a brief look on google but I couldn't find anything that looked the part!

I've used FreeDownloadManager in the past and that always seemed to work well.
However, if you have firefox I'd recommend using DownThemAll which is a download manager that sits inside Firefox.
Cheers, I'll have a look at the two recommended!
flashget? i use that sometimes.
I use FreeDownloadManager combined with Firefox's FlashGot plugin, excellent stuff. WHat I like about FDM is that you can specify the memory cache size to use so there's much less disk activity making everything a whole lot faster. Other clients either use a small amount or none at all.
I use orbit downloader to, it has the ++Grabber tool built in which allows you to get the source files of streaming media. Quite handy if you'd rather download something and watch it on a player rather than through your browser.
Integrates nicely with firefox to.
Yeah I use Orbit too, its very nice.

The main advantage is that it can resume after an interruption
I use Opera and it can download OK, but for big jobs (100MB or so) I use Star Downloader - simple and, IIRC, no real installation. Good for Linux distros :-)

I find XP seems to resume ok most times on it's own!
