    SME / ProFTPd

Im not sure if this is an SME Linux thing or ProFTPd.

Right, I have a scripted FTP transfer to the SME box, the transfer works fine, but in the message log I get this...

    Feb 4 14:33:43 machine proftpd[5184]: machine.domain.co.uk (193.0.0.2[193.0.0.2]) - chmod(/ibays/ticker/html/OOS.CSV) to 100764 failed: Operation not permitted

Even with the error, the file appears to be chmod'd to 764. I am not entirely sure where the chmodding comings in, because I do not do any. The FTP script is a simple cd... lcd... put thingy.

Any idea why this error would still be appearing? Ta!

What are the permissions of the FTP user and the directory that the file is being uploaded to? Is it overwriting a file on upload?

the user has full FTP permission and the directory it is being uploaded to is public. It is overwriting a file.

I don't understand why the file permissions are successfully changed, but it still throws up an error message.
